As an Emotionally Focused Therapist, I offer Walk and Talk therapy on the West side of Los Angeles to support individual clients in connecting more deeply with their emotional experience while grounded in the natural world. Walking side by side can help reduce anxiety, soften emotional defenses, and create a sense of ease that allows feelings to surface more organically. Movement and nature often support clients in accessing clarity, regulation, and insight, allowing an exploration of attachment needs and emotional patterns with compassion and curiosity.
Considerations for Walk and Talk Therapy
To participate in Walk and Talk therapy, clients must meet a few basic requirements to ensure safety, comfort, and therapeutic effectiveness:
Physical Ability: Clients should be able to walk at a gentle pace for up to 30 minutes. Walks are typically on flat, accessible paths, but any mobility concerns should be discussed beforehand to adapt the session as needed.
Comfort Outdoors: Sessions take place in public, outdoor settings. While confidentiality is respected, complete privacy cannot be guaranteed. Clients should feel comfortable with the possibility of passing others during the session.
Weather Flexibility: Walk and Talk sessions are weather-dependent. Clients should be open to rescheduling or transitioning to Zoom if conditions are unsafe or uncomfortable (e.g., extreme heat, rain, or poor air quality).
Emotional Readiness: Because movement can intensify emotional processing, clients should feel resourced enough to engage in emotional work outside of a traditional office setting.
Informed Consent: Clients will be asked to review and sign a consent form outlining the risks, benefits, and boundaries of Walk and Talk therapy.
If you’re unsure whether this format is right for you, I’m happy to explore it together and make a plan that feels supportive and grounded.
